Awards Night & Snail
Racing
The recent snail racing night for our colts was a massive
success! The children raised the roof of the village hall
with noise of cheering, it was an amazing event and I
think I'm right in saying that they all had a fantastic
time.
We combined the social evening with a small presentation
(photos you can see below) six children were chosen by the
coaches for a combination of their efforts and improvement
over the course of the summer season. Tom Pitts, Harry
Clark, Marlon Geen, George Reynolds, Daniel Long and Owen
Eddishaw. all received medals and certificates at our race
evening.
All of the coaches also received a small thank you as the
season really would not have taken place without their
continued help over the summer months. Nigel Bartram,
Richard Orsmby, Mark Dawson, Tony Pitts, Tony Collins, big
thanks also goes to the two parent helpers Peter and Rob.
and also Michelle needs a big thank you for doing all our
paperwork and registering the children each week, she was
unable to attend the race & presentation evening but I am
sure everyone will be pleased to know that she is doing
really well.
The last big thank you goes to all the parents that stayed
after the race evening to help us clean the village hall
it really was a case of many hands make light work. We
hope to see you all again next summer and all that is left
to say is have a good winter!!!
from Tanya Bartram (childprotection officer)
p.s Marlon Geen is missing from our photos of the
presentation, really sorry but the photo did not come out.
If Mum took a photo please send it to me so I can have the
web site updated.
Summer
Sessions
Ashdon Cricket Club have been busy helping
its members during the winter, we have secured a grant
from the Essex community foundation that issue’s grants
for children and young people in the Essex community. We
were able with the £2477 to purchase a large amount of kit
for the very busy Monday night colts training that we have
now got going on in this 2007 season. The 2007 season has
been really successful for the Ashdon colts we have had 58
registered this year double the amount from last year
which is fantastic and with the new kits bags for all
three age groups (under 15, 13 & 11) along with Kwik
cricket sets for the under 9’s, there is enough for all
the children, we also have some bigger items such as the
roll on net & catcher mats. . Our volunteer coaches
(Nigel Bartram, Richard Ormsby, Tony Collins & Mark
Dawson) do a great job each week unfortunately they are
unable until further notice take any more children as we
are filled to capacity,
